Croutons are small, crunchy bread cubes that you can easily make yourself from toast, baguette, dark bread, or white bread. Here we have a few tips about croutons:

Cookie cutters for croutons

For something a little different croutons just try using Cookie cutters. Cut them out of, for example, a slice of toast, then roast as usual in butter and a little salt. Your guests will be amazed!

Flavor for croutons

Croutons are particularly popular for soups or salads.

Butter or olive oil

Cut the bread into small cubes and roast them as desired in a little Butter or olive oil.

Garlic

Depending on your taste, the croutons can now be refined with pressed garlic and a pinch of salt; roast them together in the pan and serve on the dish.

For just a hint of garlic: halve a clove of garlic and rub the inside of the pan with it.

Bacon

If you want to make your croutons a bit heartier, add bacon cubes to the bread.Caution: do not let the pan get too hot. As soon as the butter has melted, the croutons can be added to the pan. Turn them several times until they reach a pleasant degree of browning, then drain the crispy bread cubes and bacon on a paper towel.

Extra tip: the croutons should be added to the food while still lukewarm and fresh. They don't taste as good cold.

Leftover tip: is there any bread left over that no one wants to eat because it's already a bit hard? Then cut it into small pieces, roast it in a pan with butter, and add it to the soup – suddenly the whole bread is gone – at least for us!
