Sponges are often used for cleaning because they are nice and handy and clean well. Dirty sponges are usually thrown away quickly because you just can't get them properly clean anymore. However, I have collected some tips here on how to get them nice and clean again:
Cleaning cleaning sponges
Table salt
A mixture of table salt and water can clean sponges nicely. For this, mix 125 g of table salt and 1 liter of water to create a mixture and soak the sponges in it for 24 hours. Then rinse with cold, clear water and they are ready for the next cleaning.
Extra tip: this solution can also be used to clean bath sponges and natural sponges well and rids them of fungi. Rinse natural sponges several times with clear water.
Killing bacteria in cleaning sponges
Unfortunately, after some time, Bacteria accumulate in cleaning sponges. To kill most of themkill, place the damp sponge for 2 minutes on the highest setting in the microwave.
