Reuse apple peels

If you like eating apples and enjoy peeling them, or have to peel them for cakes, you don't need to throw the peels straight onto the compost. Here we have tips on how you can still make use of them:

Tea from apple peels

The Apple peels can be dried to prepare delicious tea from them. Place the peels on a paper towel and let them dry in the sun during the summer. In winter, they can be dried on the heater or on baking paper in the oven. Place the dried apple peels in a container and seal well. If you like a bit of spice, add a cinnamon stick to the peels.

When you want to make an apple tea, put 1 tbsp of apple peels into a cup and pour boiling water over them. Let it steep for a few minutes and season to taste with sugar or lemon juice.

Juice from apple peels

You can also pour plenty of water over the peels and let them stand until the next morning. The resulting drink can be sweetened slightly and drunk immediately, or boiled and then enjoyed. It can be used as a morning coffee and is also soothing to the nerves.
