Cleopatra already bathed in goat's milk, and our great-grandmothers knew about the little and big beauty secrets decades ago. While much has been forgotten, some things still prove their worth today. It is therefore not absolutely necessary to buy only expensive creams and lotions to minimize dry skin or make wrinkles disappear. Let's take a leap back in time to Grandma's days and look at the home remedy tips.

Home remedies for beauty

Fighting dry skin

Almost all high-fat dairy products are suitable for mixing into masks to soothe dry skin on the face, elbows, or shins. Simply mix yogurt, quark, or cream with, for example, a banana into a nice, creamy paste and apply it generously to the affected areas. Let this paste soak in well and remove it later with lukewarm water or a cosmetic tissue.

Irritated skin

If the skin is irritated, tight, and itchy, you can use various household items to soothe it. Honey can, for example, have an antibacterial and calming effect. Mixed with St. John's wort oil or a little chamomile the paste helps to heal and relax the skin. Simply mix a tablespoon of soaked chamomile flowers (alternatively the contents of a tea bag) with approx. 2 teaspoons of honey and spread it on the cleansed face, let it take effect, and then remove it thoroughly with lukewarm, clear water.

Oily skin

Whether cucumber, lemon, or egg white – these home remedies specifically remove oil and shine from the skin. They also cool the problem areas and continue to provide them with moisture. These all-rounders really pack a punch. If you mix grated cucumber, the juice of a lemon, and an egg white together, you get a creamy paste that can be applied generously to the face and décolleté. After 5 minutes simply wash off the mask along with the accumulated oil.

Scrub

A homemade scrub can be put together with just a few ingredients. Yeast and milk are particularly suitable, as they easily remove old skin flakes and free the skin from impurities. For this, simply mix a tablespoon of flaxseed, half a block of fresh baker's yeast, and a little milk into a creamy scrub and massage it into the face in circular motions. After rinsing with lukewarm water, the skin is wonderfully clear and clean.

Shiny hair

Avocados not only taste excellent and are healthy, they are also perfectly suitable for hair. For a gentle hair treatment, simply mix a teaspoon of olive oil with a ripe avocado and stir in the juice of a lemon. After washing your hair, apply the mixture generously, then cover your hair with a towel and let the treatment work for 15 minutes. Then rinse everything out carefully and wash your hair again. The shine is gigantic.

Strong nails

Cracked and brittle nails are not uncommon, and many people complain about unsightly nails. Sea salt makes the nails harder and more resistant. Simply mix 5 tablespoons with 150ml of water and soak your fingers in it extensively.

Puffy eyes

Tired eyes are often swollen, itchy, and irritated. Simply place two black tea bags, which have previously been soaked in lukewarm water, on your closed eyes and let them work for 10 minutes. After this procedure, the eyes look fresher and less puffy.

Tip: For all home remedies, it is best to use only organic products, which are naturally fresh and harmless. The masks and scrubs should always be freshly mixed and used immediately.
