Many houseplants do not tolerate direct sunlight, but still need light. Therefore, place the plants near a window where it is nice and bright, but the sun does not constantly shine on the leaves. But does this apply to all plants? What is the best location now? I want an easy-care plant? Well, those are the questions I often ask myself. I love plants and always find it totally beautiful when the whole room is full of them. Unfortunately, not all plants last with me. Often I only enjoy the beautiful flowers for a few weeks and then I can open a palliative care ward for some plants. So what am I doing wrong? Does anyone else feel this way?

Where is the best location for the plants?
Not every living space offers the optimal sunlight that a plant needs to grow and thrive. Conversely, there are numerous plants that do not tolerate too much sun very well. But since a plant undoubtedly enriches every room and is a true room decoration, you don't have to despair. For the houseplant lover, there are a number of plants that are suitable for shady places.
Some plants feel particularly comfortable in partial shade or shade. They provide a beautiful color in the room and look particularly good both in the corner and on cupboards. Nevertheless, one should not leave these plants unattended. After all, water still works wonders for good growth, and on winter days, sufficient humidity should be ensured in the rooms due to the dry heating air.
Which plants prefer it shady?
Ivy or Pothos: this plant should always be kept moist and prevented from drying out. The climbing and bushy properties of the ivy make the room friendly and also give it a tropical feeling. Although this room decoration does not need much sun, it should not be placed in too dark a spot either.
House fern: evergreen and particularly decorative, this plant, which can tolerate humid air and plenty of water, looks great. It does not like too much sun and thrives best in partial shade.
Peace lily: this mostly small plant loves the shade and gives the plant lover a lot of joy. With proper care, it rewards the owner with white spathes. Low-lime water and humid air are very good for it. Every now and then, a light water spray is not a bad idea.
Dragon tree: the dragon tree is practically predestined as a corner plant, grows beautifully bushy, and likes to show off its green-reddish leaves as a thank you. Slight sunlight, but no blazing sun, is recommended here.
Spider plant: this plant is quite undemanding, easily tolerates high temperatures, and should be watered regularly.
Ponytail palm/Bottle palm: the ponytail palm comes from Mexico and therefore tolerates strong temperature fluctuations of up to 30 degrees – furthermore, infrequent watering does not bother it much.
How do I recognize easy-care plants?
Robust and easy-care houseplants include, for example, succulents. These climbing plants or cacti are quite undemanding plants that make few demands and bring joy to every plant lover. Pay attention to the foliage and the stem: the leaves are often thick and leathery, the stem and branches have a strongly woody structure.
How to care for plants in dark corners
Although there are certainly plants that can get by with little to no light, one must not forget that vital photosynthesis must still be present, as otherwise even an easy-care plant can hardly thrive.
So make sure that the plants receive at least a little light and, if necessary, provide a plant lamp for compensation. When buying such a special lamp, pay attention to the blue and red portion of the light so that the ratio is correct. Blue light stands for the growth of the plant, red light is also responsible for thriving, but can damage the plants. Therefore, a high blue content is definitely advisable.
