It is annoying every time when a nice, soft, newly bought towel turns into a stiff monster. Terry cloth towels become rough and scratchy over time, which is due to the limescale in the water. To dissolve the limescale and make the towels soft again, there are a few tips:
Make terry cloth soft again
Soaking
The Laundry (towels, washcloths, bathrobes) in 2/3 warm water and 1/3 vinegar soak for approx. 10 hours. Then wash as normal in the washing machine.
Washing
Before washing the terry cloth towels, add a dash of vinegar to the washing machine water. This dissolves the limescale from the towels and lets them become soft again.
