Beautiful, well-groomed nails are essential these days – many jobs require an elegant appearance, and fingernails are naturally a part of that. But anyone who values their appearance will also nurture and care for their nails. After all, we use our hands every day, making them our trademark, so to speak. However, a professional manicure is quite expensive in the long run – surely that can be done at home, right?
The perfect fingernails
Strong fingernails and velvety soft hands are the epitome of perfect hands. However, this idea does not have to be a dream, and certainly not unaffordable. There are a few excellent tips that will lead you to your goal.
- Remove old and unsightly nail polish without leaving any residue.
- Use a good acetone-free nail polish remover for this.
- After each use of nail polish remover, rinse your hands thoroughly with water and a mild soap. Nail polish remover dries out the hands.
- Afterwards, soak your hands for a few minutes in a lukewarm soap bath. This allows the cuticles to soften nicely.
- After the hand bath, you can excellently push back the softened cuticles with a rosewood stick or a so-called hoof stick. Also remove dead skin residue at the nail edges.
- Treat your hands and nails to a little care treatment every now and then. For this, soak your hands in valuable, lukewarm olive oil and let it absorb well. This promotes the keratin of the nails, which in turn makes the nails more resistant and harder.
- Vitamins for the nails: Squeeze half a lemon and mix the juice with a cup of warm water. Dip your fingertips into this mixture for approx. 5 minutes. After rinsing well and shaking the fingers dry, you can push back the cuticles. Then rub the nails vigorously with the lemon peel and polish them with a cloth.
- Polish your nails with a fine polishing file. This not only smooths the ridges of the nails and eliminates unevenness, but also gives the fingernails a brilliant shine. Always file from the side to the center and always in the same direction. This protects the nails and prevents cracks. Metal nail files are not recommended, as they only roughen the nails and make them brittle.
- Anyone who does not want to do without colored nail polish should always and absolutely use a base coat. This prevents discoloration.
How do I get firmer fingernails?
Many people suffer from damaged and, above all, brittle nails. However, anyone who gives their nails good care can change this.
Strengthening
Anyone who has quite thin nails that are also sensitive and prone to tearing should avoid longer fingernails. Cut the nails quite short and straight. Massage your hands daily with a good hand and nail cream or a good olive oil. Always let the oil or cream absorb well.
Care
Anyone who wants to have healthy nails should regularly observe the cuticles. This fine, sensitive skin protects the nail root. Never cut this skin away, but simply push the cuticle back with a rosewood stick or a hoof stick. If you don't have these things, a cotton swab works well too. Tip: with a special cuticle oil applied, you can push the cuticle back perfectly and easily.
Protecting
There are numerous products that protect and care for our hands and fingernails. Use strengthening products for soft nails, a nail hardener for brittle nails, and a nail polish treatment for dry nails.
Tips for beautiful nails
Nail biting should be absolutely taboo. Anyone who cannot help it should use a nail polish that leaves a bitter taste.
Wash your hands regularly in cold water and always wear gloves for washing dishes and gardening work. Gloves Regular moisturizing will also do your hands good.
