Get rid of wasps

Unfortunately, insects are part of summer – which means not only enjoying the sun, ice cream, and cold drinks, but also avoiding bees and wasps. Everyone knows that these insects are actually harmless as long as you don't provoke them. However, some will have already made the acquaintance of a wasp's sting and are therefore definitely not keen on a repeat performance. To ensure it stays that way, there are a few tips you can follow during the summer.

Helpful tips for repelling wasps

Small change

Small change can indeed be useful here. Simply rub your fingers over copper coins and then rub your fingers over the garden table. The insects perceive the metallic smell and take flight. Note: other metallic objects made of copper can also be used.

Subtle clothing

Colored clothing is synonymous with an attractant for bees and wasps. So, if you prefer to be outdoors undisturbed, you should dress in colors that are uninteresting to insects. White or cream tones do not appeal to the animals at all. Dark tones like blue or black also leave them cold. Bright colors, which we often discover in nature – such as yellow, red, and green – do not go unnoticed by the animals.

No perfume

Also Perfume should be used too liberally. Some fragrances are magically attractive to wasps. The smell of essential oils like tea tree oil, on the other hand, tends to deter the insects.

Wasp trap with lemonade

If there are several wasps in the house, or if they are annoying on the terrace or balcony, you can build a 'wasp trap' yourself. To do this, leave a lemonade bottle open with a little lemonade inside. The wasps won't be able to resist.

Clove oil

Small, homemade scent accessories in the garden also make wasps look for the distance. If you sprinkle a little clove oil on a piece of wood or a scented sachet, you can hang these items near the seating areas. Wasps do not like any kind of clove essence and will hardly disturb you while you are eating or resting in the garden.

Coffee

Coffee against wasps? Is that supposed to work? This remedy against insects is very easy to use. Simply put a few tablespoons of coffee powder into a fireproof container and place a lit match inside. The coffee will now smolder and release a roasted aroma that wasps cannot stand. This guarantees peace from the annoying insects on summer afternoons.

Incense plants

Incense plants can not only decorate the home garden but also keep wasps away. The plants work best if you rub the leaves briefly with your fingers. The smell thus becomes more intense and more perceptible to the insects.

Basil plants

This trick also works very well with Basil – these Tuscan herbs not only look excellent in Mediterranean dishes, look beautiful in the garden, and exude an unmistakable smell – the essential oils also keep wasps away. Simply settle the plant in your home garden or place a few potted plants near the seating area.

Tomato plants

Wasps also don't like tomato plants: Here you can kill several birds with one stone. The fragrances not only repel wasps but also flies, gnats, and mosquitoes.

Cover food and drinks

Anyone who keeps their drinks under wraps outdoors will attract fewer wasps. The insects have an extremely keen sense of smell. Open food and drinks are like a lure for wasps. If food is left open for a long period of time, the animals will not stay away for long. So, seal drinks well and cover food. Hairspray

If a wasp ever gets into the house or apartment, simply spray it with hairspray. This stiffens the wings and they are immobilized. This works with all insects. However, keep in mind that bees are very useful insects that should be let out if possible.
