Onion sugar syrup for coughs

Coughing is often painful and annoying, especially at night when you are tormented by a cough reflex and can no longer sleep. Unfortunately, our children cough every now and then, so I looked for a home remedy for coughs and found onion syrup. The onion is a miracle cure, as I have come across it for many ailments. I was most impressed that it can soothe a wasp sting! But now to the cough syrup, here I have instructions for a syrup with honey or sugar:

Onion syrup with sugar or honey for coughs

Ingredients:

  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp sugar or 3 tbsp honey

Preparation:

Put the sugar or honey into a container (I used a plastic bowl, a washed-out jam jar also works well) that can be closed. Add the chopped onions and mix everything well. Close the container and let it steep in the refrigerator for at least 6 to 24 hours. The juice that settles is strained and put into a new jar. The syrup keeps in the refrigerator for about a day and is taken by the teaspoon several times a day.

Caution:If the cough persists or gets worse, be sure to see a doctor!
