The glass has just been washed, but still isn’t clean? That can certainly happen. Even the tiniest dust particles, which you only notice on closer inspection or sometimes don’t see at all, can harm the head of foam on the beer. Rising bubbles at the bottom or around the edge indicate that something is not right here. The result: the head of foam collapses, and the sight of the long-awaited beer is only half as appealing.

What should I keep in mind when rinsing beer glasses?

BBeer glasses should only be cleaned with clear, warm water . If they are washed with dish soap, the classic beer foam will not form.

Tip: Before pouring the beer, rinse the glass again with cold water, swirl the water around well in the glass, and only then carefully pour in the beer – this removes the last dust particles optimally.

How can I reduce the formation of dust particles?

To prevent the annoying grains of dust from forming in the first place, you should generally not wipe the glasses with a hand towel or drying cloth, but simply let the glasses air-dry after rinsing. Unfortunately, towels contain too much lint, which brings dust into the glass. Therefore, you should avoid this procedure.

However, to get the glass optimally sparkling clean and to counteract the formation of water spots on the glass itself, use only hot, clear water for cleaning. However, if there are stubborn stains on the glass, such as lipstick, food residue, or the like, it makes sense to use a special cleaner that is available in any drugstore.

Why can’t I simply use dish soap?

Ordinary dish soap forms a film on the glass itself, which makes the formation of the popular head of foam almost impossible. To make sure the cleaning was not in vain, it is best to store the glass after cleaning in a dust-free place that, above all, is not exposed to smoke or cooking vapors. Also place the glasses upside down – that is, with the opening of the glass facing downward – so that no dust can get inside.

Why can’t I conjure up a head of foam despite following all the care instructions?

If the glasses are truly spotlessly clean and the obligatory head of foam still does not form, the fault may well lie with the beer.

Therefore, check whether the beer is still good. Pay attention to the expiration date. If it has already passed, it is better to pour the beer away, even if it breaks a beer lover’s heart.

Does the beer taste too sweet or do you notice a slight bread-like taste? This could indicate inferior quality or improper beer storage. While these flavor deviations are not harmful to health, they are not conducive to enjoyment and will also not support a head of foam.

Flakes in the beer indicate that the beer has gone bad. It should definitely no longer be drunk – intestinal discomfort and nausea are the result.

How do I pour a beer properly?

Whether from a bottle or from a keg – with the right tricks, you can pour any beer excellently.

  • Hold the glass at an angle under the tap.
  • Now open the tap quickly and fully, but let the beer run along the side of the glass.
  • While pouring, slowly and gradually straighten the glass.
  • Now set the glass down and let it rest for about one minute.
