Rust should definitely be removed quickly, as it unfortunately continues to spread. Over time, it can even decompose metal. If the rust has not yet 'eaten' deep into the metal, it can often be removed with simple household remedies. Here we have some tips for removing rust.
Household remedies for removing rust
Lemon juice
To remove rust stains from white fabrics, hot lemon juice is recommended. But be careful with delicate textiles.
Baking powder
Another possibility is to moisten the stain on white Clothing slightly and rub it with baking powder. Then wash as normal.
Vinegar
With vinegar, rust stains on Clothing and on metal can be removed. The rule here is that it should always be diluted, for example with water or oil. Undiluted, it would attack the material too strongly.
Borax and vinegar
Rust stains in the bathtub can be made to disappear with a mixture of borax (available in health food stores, eco-supermarkets, or pharmacies) and vinegar. Apply this paste thickly and let it sit for about 1 hour, then wash off thoroughly.
Aluminum foil
To make the Rust at garden tools, simply rub off with a piece of crumpled aluminum foil.
Cola
To remove surface rust from Cutlery, cola helps. Soak the affected cutlery in a bowl full of cola for 1-2 days.
