Commuting is the be-all and end-all in Austria when it comes to work. Unless you live in a metropolitan area with a high proportion of industrial sectors, you cannot avoid the daily commute by bus, train, or your own car.

Women in particular are confronted with these commuting problems. They often only want to find a part-time job so that they can reconcile family and career as best as possible. According to current figures from Statistics Austria, the proportion of women employed part-time is even rising.

However, if you finish work at noon, there may be problems with the time intervals. Perhaps it then makes more sense to buy a private car or to form a carpool with colleagues who also live nearby.
