Crushed ice is very often needed for cocktails. Crushed ice consists of ice cubes in crushed shards. So, it's not cubes or other shapes that are needed here, but smaller chunks of ice. Why go to this trouble? Chefs and bartenders like to use crushed ice to increase the cooling speed of the drink or cocktail or simply to achieve a better visual effect.

Crushed ice prepared easily

Fill the ice cubes into a freezer bag, squeeze out the air, and seal the bag well. Then use a rolling pin to hit the bag, and you have crushed ice.

What else can you do if you don't have a rolling pin at hand?

Another simple tip:Make ice cubes as usual. Once they are sufficiently frozen, simply place them in a kitchen towel. Now tie the kitchen towel into a small bag. Then hit the bag against a harder surface (kitchen countertop or kitchen table) until the ice cubes have been sufficiently crushed. The crushed ice is ready.
