When the seasons change, when you stand up too quickly from a lying position, when you haven't drunk enough, or when you feel particularly sluggish, your circulation often likes to play tricks on you. Sudden dizziness, lethargy, and limp limbs are often the result of a circulatory collapse. The battery is empty, nothing works anymore – you simply need a little rest. However, you can do something to revive your circulation. While you can use medication from the pharmacy, the package inserts list side effects that are sometimes quite worrying. You should definitely keep your hands off these.
How can I revive my circulation?
Much better, however, are the universally popular home remedies, which are healthy and contain no harmful side effects.
The 10 best home remedies for circulatory problems
1. Cold water
Is your circulation flagging? Then hold your hands under running, cold water, specifically so that the water splashes exactly on the spot where your pulse is measured. Or, you can take a cold arm bath.
2. Almond milk
Stir two tablespoons of ground almonds into a glass of whole milk and drink it to the last drop. It invigorates the body and keeps the circulation in shape. As a preventative measure, you should drink two glasses daily of this mixture.
3. Contrast showers
Alternating Hot and Cold Showers are good for blood circulation and are therefore optimal against dizziness. Simply shower your body with alternating warm and cold water from top to bottom. It is best to start with your feet, then your legs, arms, chest, and finally your back. This not only strengthens the circulation but also boosts the immune system.
4. Apple cider vinegar and honey
A tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed with a teaspoon of honey and some warm water before breakfast is also good against lethargy and limp limbs.
5. Exercise
Regular light Sports promotes blood circulation and thus ensures that the organism has fewer circulatory problems.
6. Acupressure exercises
Acupressure exercises help with circulatory weakness and also work very well as a preventative measure: simply rub the tips of the middle fingers of both hands firmly with your thumbs so that a pleasant feeling of warmth is created. Why? In the base of the middle fingers are energy points that can invigorate the circulation. Take a short break after rubbing and repeat the exercise.
7. Gymnastic exercise
Another effective exercise: cross your arms, fingers, and feet alternately. This gets your brain hemispheres going and your circulation working as usual again. If this exercise is too difficult, simply rub your right ear with your left hand and your left ear with your right hand.
8. Sage and port wine
Boil a handful of sage in a liter of water and let the brew steep well. Then let the tea cool down and pour it into a large bottle. Now add a piece of angelica root, a pinch of cinnamon, ginger, and a clove to the bottle and fill the rest with port wine. This mixture must now rest. Place the bottle in a dark, cool place and drink a small glass every morning and evening.
9. Fruit juices with linseed oil
The non-alcoholic version consists of one tablespoon of apple juice, a quarter liter of fresh orange juice, as well as a teaspoon of linseed oil and an eighth of fresh carrot juice. It is best to drink this mixture on an empty stomach.
10. Dextrose
For severe dizziness and near-fainting, dextrose also helps very well. Anyone who often has trouble with their circulation should always have a few candies ready.
