Onions and garlic are used very often in the kitchen, and so it is often necessary to keep enough of them in stock. Here we have tips on how best to store garlic and onions:
The best way to store onions and garlic
Mesh bags
A good way to store onions and garlic is to put them in mesh bags and store them in a dry place.
Onion braids
Onions can also be tied into onion braids and hung up – garlic can be stored just as well this way.
Slice of bread
Again and again onions sprout quite quickly after storage: To delay this, simply add a slice of bread to them, it absorbs the moisture!
Pickling garlic
Garlic cloves cannot dry out if you peel them and store them in olive oil. In addition, the oil takes on the flavor and is therefore well suited for marinades.
Freezing onions
It is very practical to chop onions and freeze them in portions. This makes you faster when cooking if you are short on time.
