Sawing wood is not as easy as one might think. There are a few things to keep in mind, if only to minimize the risk of injury. Furthermore, there are many different saws available. We have compiled some tips and information here to ensure your sawing is successful:

Protective clothing should always be worn when sawing. This means work gloves are required, as well as safety goggles to protect the eyes and proper clothing, preferably trousers, a shirt, and sturdy shoes. Anyone working with loud equipment such as circular saws or chainsaws should also wear hearing protection.
The right tool
When it comes to saws, there are hand saws, jigsaws, circular saws, or chainsaws.
Among the Hand saws include handsaws (fuchsschwanz), fine saws, hacksaws, wood saws, and coping saws. These are without electronic assistance and require physical effort. The handle should fit well in your hand and you should have a stable stance. For perfect power transmission, use the entire length of the saw blade and saw with light pressure. Once you have started, more pressure can be applied. For clean cuts, apply force in the pushing direction and pull the saw back without pressure.
Extra tip: Often, the saw gets stuck when working with fresh wood. This can be avoided by placing a small wedge into the saw slot. For this, it is best to use a tool like a screwdriver.
Another tip: Never saw wood by eye – always cut along a marked line. You should saw next to the line – i.e., right beside it.
A Jigsaw is equipped with a narrow blade with teeth on one side and is the saw for curved cutouts in wood, plastic, thin metal, aluminum, or drywall. To do this, clamp the workpiece; the saw blade must be able to work freely, and only apply light pressure in the sawing direction. Never saw sideways with a jigsaw, as it could bend or overheat the saw blade.
A Circular hand saw has a round metal saw blade equipped with teeth all around. The saw blade rotates, and you can use it to make clean cuts in wood and plastic. You can achieve very precise cuts with the help of a guide rail. The rail should protrude slightly at both ends of the workpiece. When working, first position the saw while it is still switched off so that it does not yet touch the workpiece. Then switch on the saw and wait until the device has reached full speed. Only then move the saw forward carefully. Always perform this step with a constant movement.
A Chainsaw is operated by an engine, oil pressure, or compressed air. It has a rotating saw chain for cutting. The most common type is hand-held and designed for use in wood and forestry work. Before starting work, the saw is fueled with a suitable oil-gasoline mixture, and the chain tension and the condition of the chain are checked. If the chain is dull, it must be replaced or sharpened. When working with a chainsaw, it is essential to wear protective clothing, such as cut-resistant trousers, a safety helmet with a visor, safety shoes, and hearing protection. When it comes to working, first engage the chain brake. If the saw is cold, pull the choke. For a safe working method, place the saw on the ground, hold the handle firmly, and pull the starter cord. Once the engine is running, give it gas. Now you can pick up the saw and release the chain brake. Always hold the chainsaw with both hands when sawing. Also, ensure that you always cut with the underside of the guide bar, i.e., with the pulling chain.
