Always wash with empty pockets

Tissues

Unfortunately, it happens to me very often that I forget tissues in my clothes and wash them in the washing machine. This is very annoying, as they disintegrate into 1000 small pieces and stick to all the laundry. Here I have a helpful tip that has helped me a lot:

Reminder to check pockets

To make sure you always remember to check the pockets, you can hang or place a bag, a plastic bag, or a small trash can by the washing machine. The found treasures can be put into the bag – this has proven very effective with my twins, as they always like to put things in their pockets. And the tissues can go straight into the trash can.

Tissue mishap in the washing machine

But what can you do if a tissue has strayed into the laundry after all? The dark jeans or the black shirt don't look nice with all the lint that spreads like a sea of white pearls on the dark fabric. Now good advice is expensive, because shaking it out doesn't help much here.

Some swear by the dryer, others recommend washing the garment again. If nothing else helps, you can try these tips:

  • Adhesive tape or clear packing tape wrapped several times around your own hand – of course with the sticky side facing outwards. And now work the fabric thoroughly with the palm of your hand. The adhesive film picks up the light-colored lint and fuzz so that they stick to the packing tape.
  • When damp, simply wipe with a damp microfiber cloth over the pants or shirt. This picks up the lint. However, rinsing the microfiber cloth several times is necessary so as not to spread the unpleasant lint back onto the fabric.
  • A Nail brush can do a good job. The stiff bristles do a good job and remove the lint from the fabric.
