A little kitsch is simply part of Christmas. Christmas decorations in supermarkets and shopping malls are just as lush and opulent – so why skimp on Christmas accessories in your own four walls? After all, it's not just children's eyes that light up when the house is festively decorated. With the right ideas, a warm, colorful ambiance can be created even with limited resources.
The Advent wreath
Of course, an Advent wreath is a must on every dining or living room table during the Christmas season. However, the right Christmas decoration makes a wreath made of fir or straw truly opulent. With red or gold Christmas baubles, silver stars, a small garland simply wrapped loosely around the wreath, or a few pine cones, many a dreary wreath can be upgraded. Additionally, wrap some cinnamon sticks or dried orange slices with gold wire and attach them to a branch – a real eye-catcher is guaranteed.
If you prefer to do without a fir wreath, you can still set glamorous accents on the coffee table. Take a large gold or red plate, place the candles close together in the center of the plate, and sprinkle the free space all around with gold star nuggets, star anise, small Christmas baubles, and use individual fir branches or pine cones as highlights.
The door wreath
What would Christmas be without decorations on front doors or windows? You can also add plenty of embellishments here. Look for a simple fir wreath in stores. Whether you choose an artificial or fresh fir version is, of course, up to you. The wreath becomes particularly festive when adorned with one large or several small red bows. Using snow spray also makes the door wreath look natural while adding a special flair. With a few mistletoe sprigs, small gifts, or tiny Christmas baubles that are wired and attached according to your taste, your individual door wreath is ready.
Christmas arrangements
Are the Christmas arrangements in stores not lush enough for you? No problem – with a few accessories, you can conjure up an individual arrangement for your dining table for your Christmas decorations at home. All you need is:
- some floral foam
- perhaps a little fir
- candles,
- dried orange, apple, or lemon slices
- pine cones
- candy canes, Christmas baubles, or stars
- as well as other available decorations
The floral foam is cut to fit the intended bowl or pot, soaked well with water, and placed in the container. Make sure thatthe foam fits well into the template.Now you can simply push a few taper candles into the floral foam or insert candle holders. Fix the fir branches around the candles. Make sure the decoration is placed so that the floral foam is finally no longer visible. Now you can decorate the arrangement with the individual decorative items. Whether gingerbread pendants, cinnamon sticks, or Christmas baubles – you can let your creativity run wild.
However, you don't have to use a pot for your Christmas decorations; you can also use a wooden board or something similar. To do this, place the candles in the desired position and fill the free space with fir and plenty of Christmas decorations. No floral foam is needed here, as the decoration stays in place due to its own weight.
No matter how you decorate your house or apartment – take your time and walk through the decoration departments with your eyes open. Just by doing this, you can get many suggestions and inspiration. Just don't stress and enjoy the pre-Christmas season.
