Of course, you can also find many recipes that reveal how to specially season the onion rings to turn the boring bulb into a crispy treat; here are a few tips:

Tip no. 1 – Breaded onion rings

  • 4 eggs
  • 250ml milk
  • 500g flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Plenty of vegetable oil
  • 4 large onions or sweet onions
  • Salt

Eggs and milk are whisked in a bowl, and flour and baking powder are mixed in another bowl. Now it's time for the oil:this is poured generously into a pot and heated strongly. Enough oil should be used so that the onion rings can float.

Now the finely sliced onion rings are first dipped into the egg mixture and then into the flour. Then fry the onion rings in the very hot oilfor about 3 minutes until golden brownand place them on a paper towel to drain using a slotted spoon. Finally, sprinkle with salt – done.

Extra info:The kick for crispy onion rings comes from dipping them in the flour at the end!

Tip no. 2 – Crispy onion rings

  • 2 sweet onions
  • 1 handful of cornflakes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar or preserving sugar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • >2 eggs

The onions are cut into thin rings, the cornflakes are put into a freezer bag and processed into flake flour with a rolling pin. Add the spices to the flour. Now the onions are briefly dipped into the whisked eggs before all the rings are put into the freezer bag with the spices and flakes. Shake everything well and let it bake onan oiled baking sheet at approx. 160° for about 15 minutes.

Extra tip:unfortunately, they absorb much more fat this way, but you can remove that withpaper towels: simply place the onion rings on the paper towel briefly after frying!
