Brightly colored textiles in particular tend to lose their color intensity at some point. Frequent washing, sunlight, and improper care contribute to the clothing essentially "bleeding out." But how can you prevent fading?
Clothing retains its color longer
To prevent clothing from fading so quickly, you should occasionally add 6 tablespoons of vinegar to the detergent compartment instead of fabric softener. This helps the clothing retain its color longer!
Refreshing faded clothing
Every now and then you can add a tablespoon of freshly ground pepper to the laundry. The pepper helps the color pigments in the fabrics remain more intense. Of course, you are welcome to wash garments with similar colors together. Some textiles with direct dye content often release their color, so that other clothing fabrics can absorb it well. But the right detergent also seems to be decisive for the color strength of the clothing. Some people swear by liquid detergent, as the powder form can strip color from the textiles. Nowadays, you can get special detergents for black and colored clothing that work against color loss and enhance the colors.
Dyeing clothing
If the color has indeed faded from the garment, you can dye it with special products. There is also a home remedy to ensure the color spreads nicely: To ensure the textile dye acts evenly on the fabric or clothing, you should add water softener to the dye bath.
