In summer, there is nothing more pleasant than protecting your head with a straw hat. The lightweight material provides pleasant shade and is as light as a feather. In addition, it spices up any summer outfit. To ensure your summer hat lasts longer than one season, we have a few tips here:
Care of straw hats
Due to the dry, warm summer climate, the material of straw hats, especially Panama hats, dries out quickly and loses its flexibility. Therefore, the straw hat should occasionally be lightly sprayed with a very fine atomizer. You can just as well take the straw hat into the bathroom, because when you shower with hot water, the humidity increases and the straw is moistened nice and evenly. This tip is the best way to refresh a hat that has already become very dry, for example, if it was forgotten in the car.
Dent in the straw hat
If a straw hat is very dented, it can be soaked in a little salt water. Then shape it as desired and let it dry.
Proper storage of straw hats
To make the straw hat last a long time, proper storage is very important. The hat should be kept at room temperature all year round and protected from the sun. If the straw hat is stored in the wardrobe, then a hat box is the right choice. The box must be large enough; make sure that the hat brim is not bent. If the brim of the hat is sloping, then store the hat upside down.
Putting on and taking off correctly
The hat can also be unsightly deformed when putting it on and taking it off. If you take the hat with your hand at the front and squeeze it, it will become unsightly at this point. It is best if you place your middle and ring fingers into the crease of the hat when touching it, so that excessive squeezing can be prevented here. If you want to be on the safe side, it is best to use a hat support, which prevents the straw from breaking.

Bathing
You should not take a straw hat into the water when swimming. If the straw hat gets wet, it softens and can become unsightly deformed. It is better to use a fabric hat here.
Rear parcel shelf in the car
In the car, it is practical to place straw hats on the rear parcel shelf, or even lay them out as decoration. However, this is not good for the straw hat at all, because when the sun shines on the car, it gets very hot inside and the straw dries out too much. Due to this high heat, the straw becomes brittle and can break apart the next time you put it on.
