If the dog has an accident on the carpet

When a puppy graces its new home for the first time, it is normal and by no means unusual for a little urine to be left in one corner and a pile in the other. Do not scold your new family member, because what the animal has done here is its nature. It has merely marked its new territory and thus symbolized: this is my new home!

What do I do if an older dog does its business in my apartment?

Normally, house-trained animals do not simply urinate in the apartment or house. This can happen at most in exceptional cases, for example if the animal is sick, is in a stressful situation, or you have exceeded the walk time. However, all these are events that are no reason to reprimand the dog. Of course, the event is also no reason to celebrate, so you should first pick up the biggest mess, then take your dog for a walk so that no further damage occurs, and then take care of intensive damage control.

Stain and odor removal of dog urine

It is particularly ideal if the dog's urine has not yet dried. This way, you can best remove the bulk of the mess with an absorbent cloth and the odor cannot stubbornly set in.

If the stain is already older, you have to soak the affected carpet area well. In any case, moisten dry areas well. For this, you should use a conventional cleaner mixed with water. Pick up the lye with a sponge and moisten the area thoroughly. With this treatment, a multiple repetition is highly advisable.

Against particularly pungent odors, vinegar water is a little insider tip. For fresh spots, first absorb the urine; on dry spots, simply spray the vinegar-water mixture completely. A lemon or orange cleaner can also fight this odor formation well. Vinegar, lemon, and orange also contain acids that cause your animal to avoid this area of the carpet in the future and no longer view it as a toilet.

What can I do if my dog soils the carpet frequently?

In some cases (for example due to illness), it may be worthwhile to use a special cleaning device. Such a device can be rented in hardware stores or drugstores. The water required for this procedure penetrates deep into the fiber fabric of the carpet and is then vacuumed off.

How do I remove dark stains on light carpets?

Has your animal vomited on your light carpet or even done a big business? While you can absorb these inconveniences well, sometimes the remains also leave behind unpleasant stains, which are sometimes not so easy to remove. With a few simple means, however, you can easily remove this stain again. For cleaning, you only need

  • a little shampoo
  • an old, discarded toothbrush
  • some sparkling water

Get the utensils ready and start the damage control. First, simply mix a little sparkling water with shampoo. Apply this paste to the stain and work the mass deep into the carpet fibers with the toothbrush. Once the stain is gone, the remains of the paste foam can be picked up and dabbed off the carpet with the help of sparkling water and a dry cloth. For remaining stains, simply repeat this tip.

  1. Personally, I have had good experiences with the well-known household chemical (the pink bottle, don't want to do any product placement here ;)). Apparently, my dog didn't seem to like the smell and avoided the spot afterwards, which prevented repeat offenses... Thankfully, he became house-trained quite quickly ?
