Bamboo

If you have bamboo furniture at home and would like to clean it, you will find the best tips here:

Cleaning bamboo furniture

Bamboo furniture is best cleaned with a cloth dipped in kerosene.

Untreated bamboo furniture

If the furniture is made of untreated bamboo, it should be wiped down with a mixture of salt and soapy water. You can also just use hot salt water and brush the furniture with it. Then rinse the furniture with cold water and let it dry well.

Extra tip:Smaller items can be washed in a bathtub or a large bucket.

Lacquered bamboo furniture

If the bamboo furniture is lacquered, it should be washed with a mixture of soapy water and ammonia.

Creaking bamboo furniture

The creaking of bamboo furniture is usually because the natural fibers of the bamboo have dried out. It is usually sufficient to wash the furniture, as this adds moisture. If the creaking is still present after washing, you can coat the furniture with Vaseline or paraffin and then rub it off with a soft cloth.
