These chocolate cookies not only taste wonderful, they can also be decorated individually. My children had a lot of fun with this and I think they turned out really well:

Christmas cookies – Chocolate cookies with icing

Ingredients:

  • 125 g dark chocolate
  • 80 g soft butter
  • 140 g sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 100 g flour
  • 220 g hazelnuts, ground
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 125 g powdered sugar
  • 20 g sugar pearls, stars, etc. (optional)

Instructions:

Finely grate the chocolate. Beat the egg, butter, and sugar until fluffy. Add the hazelnuts, flour, and chocolate and knead into a dough. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 12 hours.

Preheat the oven to 175 °C (347 °F) top and bottom heat and line the baking sheets with parchment paper. Shape the dough into small oval cookies with your hands and place them on the baking sheet. Bake in the oven at 175 °C (347 °F) top and bottom heat for 10 minutes. Let the cookies cool on a wire rack.

Decoration:

For the decoration, beat the egg yolks, lemon juice, and powdered sugar until fluffy. Brush the cookies with this mixture and sprinkle with sugar pearls, stars, or colorful sugar sprinkles. Let the chocolate cookies dry for 12 hours.
