For children, Christmas is the most beautiful and exciting time. The decorations, the beautiful customs—all of this will be well remembered by the children later on, and they will pass it on to their own children. It is also not unimportant that the Christkind brings the right gifts, so children love to write a wish list. We wanted to do this with our children too, but they can't write yet and their drawing is sometimes still a little very imaginative. So I thought that the children could just cut out their things from catalogs and glue them onto a piece of paper. Our twins love handling scissors and glue. How does it work? Very simply, here is the information:
Making a wish list with small children
What you’ll need:
- Catalogs – preferably several if there are more children (!)
- a nice sheet of paper
- children's scissors
- children's glue
- old tablecloth (to protect the table)
- possibly colored pencils
Instructions:
It is best to cover the table with an old tablecloth so that the children can handle scissors and glue. I have a plastic one where I can easily wash off glue residue or paint. Then the children get a catalog or brochures, which land in the mailbox very generously during the pre-Christmas period anyway, a pair of children's scissors, a sheet of paper, and some glue. Now the children can cut out nice things from the catalog and immortalize them on their wish list. If the children already want to write or draw a little, that is of course also possible on the wish list.
Extra tip: organize several catalogs if there are several children, maybe the neighbor or grandma doesn't need their catalog anymore, because sometimes there is something on the back that they want and then there will be screaming. Just from experience!
We had a lot of fun crafting and the afternoon flew by, and who knows, maybe one or two of the desired gifts will actually arrive for Christmas!
