Every now and then when baking, it happens that you don't use up the whole vanilla sugar from the bag. To get another portion, here is a simple tip:

Make your own vanilla sugar quickly

With vanilla sugar

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 pkg. vanilla sugar
  • regular sugar

Instructions:

If only a part or half of the vanilla sugar is needed, simply fill up the packet with regular sugar and seal it well! The sugar will absorb the vanilla aroma.

With vanilla pods

What you’ll need:

  • scraped vanilla pods
  • airtight, screw-top jar

Instructions:

Don't throw away scraped vanilla pods, but put them in an airtight container with granulated sugar – this will result in great vanilla sugar after about 2 weeks.

It also tastes wonderful boiled together with black tea.
