Safe laser eye surgery near Vienna with AMARIS 2014 laserIn the well-known and popular Excimer eye laser clinic in Bratislava, just an hour's drive from Vienna, over 20 eye laser treatments take place every day. Eye laser treatment near Vienna will take place fromJanuary 2014 with the new SCHWIND AMARIS 1050RS (built in 2014) laser device. The system sets new global standards in refractive surgery and enables the correction of optical vision defects with outstanding results.

Whether playing sports, going out, or in everyday life situations; sharp vision without visual aids is desirable. If glasses that constantly need cleaning or contact lenses that scratch or dry out the eyes negatively affect your quality of life, laser eye surgery can be a permanent remedy.

Many are deterred by the supposedly high costs or the fear of laser eye surgery. However, this is completely unfounded. The one-time
cost of laser eye surgery is significantly lower than the ongoing expenses for visual aids in the long run. Laser technology is also constantly evolving, making laser eye treatments increasingly safe, comfortable, and precise.

The Excimer Eye Laser Center enables patients to receive top-level medical laser eye treatments through the new 1050RS laser, the premium model of the SCHWIND AMARIS product family.

Laser eye surgery with 1050RS: Safety, performance & comfort

The new 2014 AMARIS 1050RS laser was developed by the German company SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions and impresses with innovative performance features such as:

  • Eye tracking in 7 dimensions = more safety
  • automatic adjustment of pulse rate & frequency as well as energy usage = ideally smoothed cornea
  • thermal control through the ITEC process = gentle corneal ablation
  • repetition rate of 1050 Hertz = faster corneal ablation
  • corneal ablation of 1 diopter in just 1.3 seconds = short treatment duration

Find out below which specifications make the AMARIS 1050RS so impressive.

Perfect corneal smoothing thanks to AFLA

The SCHWIND AMARIS 1050RS features a process for regulating the optimal ratio between laser pulse count, pulse frequency, and energy usage. The ablation of about 80% of the corneal tissue is performed with a high fluence value. Then, the Automatic Fluence Level Adjustment (AFLA) switches automatically. The corneal ablation of the remaining 20% is performed with Low Fluence. The result is an ideally smoothed cornea.

Gentle corneal ablation through thermal control process

Laser pulses generate heat; by controlling thermal expansion through Intelligent Thermal Effect Control, or ITEC for short, laser eye surgery with the AMARIS 1050RS is gentle on the cornea despite the high ablation speed of 1.3 seconds per diopter and a repetition rate of 1050 Hertz. The system calculates exactly where and at what intervals the laser pulses should occur to minimize the heating of the corneal tissue.

Accuracy & safety thanks to 7D eye tracking

During laser eye surgery, an unchanged position and precise centering of the eyes are of great importance. Despite maximum concentration, humans move their eyes involuntarily by an average of 90 micrometers per millisecond. To compensate for these eye movements, the developers at SCHWIND have developed eye tracking for active gaze tracking.

The new 2014 laser now takes into account the 7th dimension, the factor of time, instead of just 6 dimensions as before. Thus, in addition to linear and rolling movements as well as rotational movements of the eye, eye movements from the moment of capture by the eye tracker camera (1050 measurements/second) to the triggering of the subsequent laser pulse can be recorded and compensated for. This makes laser eye surgery possible without delay, as the device always knows where and at what time the next laser pulse should be delivered.
