Lemons

Citrus fruits are healthy and are popular in the kitchen for cooking and baking. But how do you store these great fruits? And what do I do with cut pieces, will they keep in the fridge for a few days? Here we have collected a lot of tips about delicious citrus fruits.

Juicing lemons optimally

To get as much juice as possible out of the lemon, first roll it back and forth under your hand. Then cut a coin-sized piece and pierce with a fork, this way you can wonderfully get out the last drops.

Just a little bit of lemon

If you only need a very small amount for a dish, you don't have to cut open the whole fruit: just use a lemontoothpick to poke a small hole and squeeze out the desired amount of juice. The small hole will close up again afterwards.Storing lemons

Especially when baking, it often happens that you only need one half: to keep the other half fresh for longer, simply

place it on a lemonplate and place a glass over it, this prevents it from drying out.Storing lemons for a very long time

An unusual tip for storing lemons for a long time: place the fruits in a box with sand, but make sure the vitamin sources do not touch each other.

Lemons in stock

Often you only need a little juice or just half the peel for a recipe. To avoid having to throw away the rest, here are a few tips:

: Squeeze the juice of all lemons and fill into

juiceice cube trays. This way the juice lasts up to a year and you can also portion it very well.: Carefully grate the peel from the lemon, making sure to get as little of the white pith as possible. Then put the peel into a

Shellsugar bowl, so you have fine aromatic sugar for sweetening. Or put the organic peels into a plastic bag or a plastic container, and freeze in the freezer.Hard lemons become soft again

If lemons lie around for a bit longer, they unfortunately become hard. To change that, put them in warm water and the lemons will become softer again.
