For many, running hot water is a matter of course. But it is not; water is precious and should be used just as sparingly. Especially in the household, water is often used in large quantities.
Environmental protection and saving water
Here are a few tips to save costs and energy on hot water:
- Instead of bathing, it is better to shower
- Switch off the hot water storage tank while on vacation!
- Heat water in an electric kettle
- Use single-lever mixers at the sink
- Opt for water-saving shower heads
- Install toilet cisterns with a flush-stop button
- Use a timer function for a hot water circulation pump
- Only run dishwashers or washing machines when fully loaded
- Use rainwater in the household, whether in the garden or in the house
- Do not leave the garden irrigation running for hours
- Do not set the temperature in the boiler or hot water storage tank too high; 60°C is usually sufficient
- Adjust the size of the water storage tank to the household (a 120-liter tank is sufficient for 3 people)
- Use the shortest possible pipes for the central water supply to keep heat loss low
- Equip supply lines with thermal insulation
