Markers in a vegetable or herb garden not only look pretty, they are also practical for quickly finding herbs and vegetables. These do not always have to be bought; there are also beautiful ideas that can be made yourself. I have a list here of how you can design such markers yourself:
Markers in the vegetable or herb garden
Clay pots
What you’ll need:
- Clay pots (available, for example, at Hornbach in larger quantities)
- Straw or wood wool
- Paint markers or glass markers
- Wooden sticks
Instructions:
Small clay pots are very suitable for this; they can be bought cheaply in hardware stores. Place them upside down and paint the desired name on them with paint. You may have to trace the lettering with the pen more often so that everything is clearly visible. Fill the pot with straw or wood wool and use it to secure the stick. Afterwards, the stick with the pot can be placed next to the appropriate plant.
Info:In the wood wool or straw, a nice little spot is also created for beneficial insects.
Stones
What you’ll need:
- Stones
- Color
Instructions:
The stones should be nice and large so that long names fit and they remain clearly visible even with wild growth. Prime the stones in the desired colors or label them directly with the paint. The disadvantage of this variant is that the stones do not remain very visible with tall-growing herbs.
Wooden sticks
What you’ll need:
- Wooden branches
- possibly pruning shears
- Knife
- Waterproof pens
Instructions:
Cut the branches to a uniform size with pruning shears so that they still stick out of the bed. Now smooth the upper part of the branch with a knife, to the length required for the name of the herbs. Now the names can be written on with the pen and the branches can be stuck next to the herbs. The disadvantage is that the branches do not last as long and have to be replaced constantly.
