Perfume

It is simply wonderful to smell good, whether after a shower or with a perfume. Often the scent fades much too quickly and you would have to reapply it. Karl Lagerfeld is said to have once said that beautiful moments in life are awakened by a scent. Therefore, the scent should really last a long time so that it can become such a moment. Here I have collected a few tips on how to make perfume last even longer:

Perfume lasts longer

Where is the right place to apply perfume?

Perfume should be applied to areas where it is warm: ideally where you can feel your own pulse: wrist, neck, inside of the elbow, or décolleté.

Extra tip:To make your favorite perfume last longer, you should apply body lotion beforehand. This helps the perfume adhere to the skin longer, so you don't have to reapply it as quickly.

Perfume also lasts a very long time in the hair or on clothing. Caution: Some materials do not tolerate perfume well, e.g., silk (stains can form here). Furthermore, perfume should not be used under the armpits or in the intimate area.

Extra tip:Apply perfume without jewelry. Put on necklaces, etc., only after applying perfume, as gemstones and metals often react to perfume.

Correct application of perfume

If the perfume has an atomizer, it should never be applied directly to the skin. It is correct to spray it from a distance of approx. 10-20 cm so that a nice fine mist settles on you.

If the perfume does not have an atomizer, dab the liquid on carefully. Caution:never rub it into the areas, as this destroys the fragrance molecules!

When is the best time to apply perfume?

The best time to apply perfume is after showering and moisturizing! After showering, the pores are still dilated from the warm water and can thus absorb the scent better.

What is the difference between Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette, Extrait, or Eau Fraiche?

The fragrance concentration is also important for a perfume. A distinction is made here between 4 levels:

  • Extrait: This is the real perfume with a high concentration of 15-30% – lasts a very long time
  • Eau de Parfum: has a concentration of 10-15% and lasts relatively long
  • Eau de Toilette: only has 5-10% and the scent does not last quite as long
  • Eau Fraiche: is also called bodysplash, body spray, or body mist and only has 1-3%, so the scent fades relatively quickly

It might also be interesting that the same perfume does not always smell the same on different people. The skin is to 'blame' here. Depending on the nature of the skin, i.e., whether it is oily or dry, the perfume smells different. On oily skin, the perfume smells much more intense because it adheres better. That's why the body lotion trick helps here.
