It's annoying when a button comes off, especially when you're on the go and it's in a place where everyone can see it. To ensure the sewn-on button lasts a long time, here are a few ideas:
Sewn-on buttons last longer
Nail polish
Apply a dab of clear nail polish to the center where the thread runs on the front and back. This seals the thread and also protects the button.
Candle wax
Another option is to pull the thread over a wax candle before sewing it on. This gives the thread more resistance.
Dental floss
Instead of using a simple thread, sew the button on with dental floss; it holds even better.
