Umbrella

Umbrellas don't actually need much care if you treat them well. Here we have a few hints and tips so that you can enjoy your umbrella for a long time:

Proper care and cleaning of an umbrella

Only close the umbrella when dry

The most important thing to ensure you enjoy your umbrella for a long time is drying it. The umbrella should not be folded up when soaking wet, as this can lead to rust on the hinges and mold on the fabric. Place the wet umbrella in an open state on the floor (tiles) so that it can drain properly. I usually put my umbrella in the bathtub or shower. If you don't have that much space, you can also set the umbrella up half-open. However, you must ensure that everything is really dry before folding it up.

Closing the umbrella

There is also a trick when closing it so that the umbrella lasts a long time. When rolling it up, you should ensure that the folds are as smooth as possible. It also helps to store the umbrella in the provided cover; this can prevent dirt and damage.

Removing dirt from the umbrella

If the umbrella gets dirty, it should be removed immediately. To do this, wipe the umbrella immediately with a damp cloth. Again, make sure the umbrella is completely dry. If it is heavily soiled, the umbrella can also be cleaned in the bathtub or a larger basin. To do this, open the umbrella as far as possible and move it back and forth in the water. You can also let the umbrella soak for about 5 minutes, then take a cloth and wipe it off with warm water.

Removing mold from the umbrella

If the umbrella has mold stains, these should be treated with high-proof alcohol (available at the pharmacy). Use only a little alcohol for this and wipe over the affected areas. The alcohol evaporates very quickly, so the umbrella can be closed again shortly after cleaning. Alcohol deprives the mold of any basis for life and is therefore very efficient.

Waterproof your umbrella cheaply

Spray the umbrella generously from time to time with hairspray . This prevents the fabric from becoming brittle so quickly and also protects the covering. Otherwise, waterproofing sprays that are available in stores are suitable.
