Since our children also love being in the water, we enjoy trying out indoor pools and water parks again and again. However, the water must be nice and warm, which is why we prefer thermal spas. We became aware of a new thermal spa in the Czech Republic: Aqualand Moravia. Finally, the time had come, we visited it, and I would like to share our experiences with you here.
Aqualand Moravia in the Czech Republic
Arrival & Admission
The thermal spa is about 76 km away from Gänserndorf and is quite easy to reach. It took us a little over an hour to get there. In the Czech Republic, it is actually easy; you just have to drive straight after the border, and it is then easily recognizable by the large lake and the signs. In front of the thermal spa, there is a large parking lot that you can use for free.
First, the admission fee must be paid. Everything can be paid for conveniently here with a card (credit or debit cards). You can pay with Euros, but you will only receive Czech currency back. For adults, the admission for one day is the equivalent of €24.90 (as of 02/2015). After entering, you must take off your shoes.
Extra tip:Don't just bring swim shoes, but also slippers, as you have to take off your shoes after the entrance area. (In the evening, everything is wet here, and it's not very pleasant in just your socks!).
After the entrance area, you go down to the lockers, where you can simply choose a free number. The locker can be locked very easily with the wristband.
Extra tip:Just remember your locker number well; it's best to take a photo of it so you don't have to search for a long time in the evening.
The Thermal Spa
Now, after the toilets and showers, you reach the swimming area. There are 3 swimming areas here, depending on the size of the children. Around these pools, you can find loungers, which are noticeably close together. If you can't find any more loungers on the ground floor, you can also look on the 1st floor. There are plenty set up here, and it is quieter.
Baby pool
One pool is for babies and very small children. There are small slides here, and the pool is very shallow and the water is nice and warm.
The pool is divided into two sections, and you can get from the upper one to the lower one via a small slide. If that doesn't feel right to you, you can also easily walk back and forth via the stairs.
Toddler pool
For toddlers, there is a pool at the other end. There are two different sized slides here and many animals to play with. There are also some wheels that can be turned, from which water can sometimes come out.
The pool is nice and shallow and wonderful for toddlers. As parents, you can also sit comfortably on the edge if you have a quiet minute.
Funnily enough, water cannons and water pistols are set up around the toddler pool. Fortunately, these are not in operation, because that would probably be a chaotic shooting of water jets.
The large pool
Between the baby pool and the toddler pool, there is a large pool. There are various attractions here. There is a whirlpool, two small wave pools (you can create waves yourself here!), a mushroom where water comes down, a fountain, a bubble jet, water showers, many loungers with bubble jets, and much more.
The pool is very easily accessible via stairs. For those with limited mobility, there is also a chair lift on the edge of the pool. The bridges that lead over the pool again and again are very nice. From this large pool, you can also swim out into the outdoor pool.
I was actually able to stand in the whole pool, and everything is very easily accessible. The small wave pools are very funny – you should definitely try them once.
Water slides
The highlight is clearly the slides. There is a large room here that is filled only with slides: Wild River, U-Wave, or Yellow Crash are just a few names that promise great sliding fun. In front of every slide, it says exactly how to slide (i.e., whether with a tube or without, head first or lying down), how difficult the slide is, and how tall you have to be to be able to slide. On some slides, you can slide in pairs or even in threes, which I think is great. Most slides have a medium difficulty level.
Wellness
Anyone looking for relaxation (from sliding!) is well advised to visit the Forum Romanum at Aqualand Moravia. Here you can relax with numerous wellness offers. Finnish sauna, bio-sauna, or infrared cabin are well-known wellness options. In Aqualand Moravia, however, a tepidarium, caldarium, or laconium are also offered. A brine steam bath or aroma bath also provides wonderful relaxation. The ice fountain or cooling pool in the wellness area serves for cooling down. There is also a Turkish Hamam bath in this thermal spa.
Food & Drink
In the thermal spa, there is a self-service restaurant where you can buy many hot meals, desserts, and drinks. Much of it is also labeled in German or English here. The food is cheaper than at home and tasted good to us. The ice cream was also a highlight for our children, as there was different ice cream here.
On the 1st floor, there is also a bar where you can order cake and coffee. The chairs are more comfortable here, and you have a beautiful view of the lake.
Conclusion
We had a lot of fun during our day at Aqualand Moravia, even though our children were still too small for many slides. Personally, I missed a not-too-long and steep slide for our children, where they can slide leisurely on their own and also arrive comfortably at the end.
I think the thermal spa is ideal for children who are at least 140 cm tall, because then they can already try out a lot of slides. Furthermore, I would like to come in the summer next time, as the outdoor area also sounds very promising. But our children also liked the 3 pools very much, and they naturally spent 99% of the time in the water. I am definitely enthusiastic and would like to come back.
