Baby shower decoration: making pompoms from napkins

For a baby shower, it is nice to have matching decorations. You can either buy these now, or even make them yourself. Because these beautiful pom-poms, which you always see in photos, are actually not that hard to make. A friend of mine tried this out and I have the instructions for you here:

Baby shower decoration: making pompoms from napkins

What you’ll need:

  • at least 3-ply napkins in the matching color (you can also mix several colors!)
  • pin
  • yarn

Instructions:

Cut the desired napkins open on the folded side so that they lie in front of you in a rectangular shape. Now, using a pin, completely separate the individual layers of the napkins. The napkin layers are now placed on top of each other as precisely as possible in the desired color and order. Here, for example, multi-colored napkins can be alternated. We decided on single-colored pom-poms and made blue and white ones separately.

Now fold the layers like a fan, i.e., alternately fold in about 2 cm on the wide side. Tie this fan in the middle with a thin piece of yarn; this thread will not be visible afterwards. Now pull the individual layers out towards the center; caution is required here so that these thin layers do not tear. Once all layers have been separated, the pom-pom is finished and ready to be hung up.

I would be very happy about constructive comments or even a like. Do you also have homemade decorations for a baby shower? Then I would be very happy to see your work!
