Clean shirt collars with home remedies

With shirts and blouses, the collar in particular is very prone to getting dirty. Sweat or make-up unfortunately stain the collar in an unsightly way. Often, even washing the blouse or shirt in the washing machine no longer helps. Here we have a home remedy for how you might still be able to get your favorite blouse or shirt completely clean:

Dirty collar becomes clean again

Cleaning the shirt collar with alcohol

What you’ll need:

  • 1 tbsp alcohol (90%, available at the pharmacy)
  • coarse salt
  • sponge
  • Bowl

Instructions:

Mix the alcohol with the salt in a bowl until the salt has dissolved. Apply this mixture to the affected areas with a sponge and let it soak in for a little while. Then wash the garment as usual. With a little luck, this home remedy will help to clean the collar again.

Cleaning a shirt collar with shampoo

Before washing, apply a little hair shampoo or dish soap (e.g. with a paintbrush) to the shirt collar and rub it in a little, let it soak for approx. 1 hour. Then wash as normal!
