Chocolate fountain

If you want to serve something special for dessert, why not try a sweet fondue? It's great because you can nibble a little bit of everything. The most well-known is, of course, chocolate fondue, but there are many variations such as a vanilla fondue with whipped cream, or other bases like fruit syrup, juices, or—if no children are eating—alcoholic ones with wine, rum, schnapps, or cognac.

Equipment for a chocolate fondue

A small pot kept warm by gentle heat is sufficient here, such as a rechaud with a tea light or a warming plate. Of course, you also need fondue forks to dip the treats nicely. Small plates are sufficient so that you can easily hold them under the dripping delicacies.

Extra tip:A chocolate fountain is really great. I received one as a gift from my mom and it is really something fine.

Fruit as side dishes:

Fruits

All firm types of fruit are suitable for dipping:

  • Bananas
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries
  • Pears
  • Pineapple
  • Kiwi
  • Orange segments
  • Grapes
  • Apricots
  • Honeydew melon
  • Cherries
  • Physalis
  • Lychees
  • Apples

Cookies and cake also go very well:

Here are a few ideas for cakes and cookies:

  • Cookies
  • Sponge cake
  • Rusks
  • Waffles
  • Pieces of yeast cake
  • Pieces of pound cake
  • Ladyfingers
  • Marshmallows

Everything is cut into bite-sized pieces and some types of fruit should be sprinkled with lemon juice so that they do not turn brown (e.g., bananas, apples, pears, etc.).

For dipping, you can also provide small bowls with shredded coconut and chopped almonds. Here you can roll the side dishes in the sprinkles.

And here I have a recipe for a delicious Vanilla fondue, just give it a try

Recipe for a vanilla fondue

  • 1 vanilla bean,
  • 750 g whipped cream
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2-3 tbsp sugar

As side dishes, we recommend 4 chopped apricots, 2 pears, 1 banana, as well as 200 g grapes, 100 cocktail cherries, and 100 g mixed cookies; if you like, you can also serve 1 bowl of pureed raspberries as a sauce.

This is enough for 4 people.

Cut open the vanilla bean and scrape out the seeds, stir them together with the pod into the whipped cream. Let the cream simmer in a pot over low heat (to approx. 400 ml). Just add salt and sugar and you can place the vanilla fondue on the rechaud. Enjoy your meal!
