Foot - Nail polish

Blisters on the feet are annoying and often painful. Very often you get blisters from new shoes or long hikes. There are already plenty of blister plasters and cushions for this, but if you want to use a home remedy, you should try mouthwash:

Blisters on the feet heal better

Mouthwash

Yes, it sounds a bit strange, admittedly, but it helps: The thymol it contains has an antiseptic effect and the menthol has a pain-relieving effect. So dab a little mouthwash with a cotton ball onto the blister, so it can heal faster.

Blister plaster

A Blister plaster helps with healing and reduces pressure in the shoes.

What to do if you have a blister?

Let small blisters heal; you can cover these with a plaster and wear well-fitting shoes. Larger blisters that are superficial can be carefully pricked with a disinfected needle and should always be covered with a plaster during the day. At night, you can leave the blister without a plaster.

Preventing blisters

  • Wear well-fitting shoes
  • no wrinkles or seams from socks in the shoe
  • do not walk very long distances immediately with new shoes, always start with shorter distances
  • for hiking boots, wear 2 pairs of thin socks instead of one pair of thick socks, so the socks rub against each other and not the sock against the skin
  • grease shoes slightly: deer tallow stick, or rub the inside with soap or Vaseline
