Actually, it is supposed to be the most contemplative and beautiful celebration of the entire year: Christmas. But before the celebration has even begun, beads of sweat appear on the foreheads of many housewives/househusbands even before the first of December. Like every year, numerous plans and errands must be taken care of, and this year, too, you will certainly not be able to rely solely on your partner. No, like every year, everything is left to the housewife – at least as far as the errands surrounding the Christmas celebration are concerned. Sometimes it is not very easy to juggle everything, so a few tips are revealed here that can confidently be used as a memory aid before the celebration, so that perhaps everything will run smoothly this year and the woman can also enjoy the pre-Christmas season without stress and worries.
The most important thing: planning is everything
The most important thing in advance: do not plan at the last minute – many people do that, and who among us has the time and the desire to stand around for ages in a mile-long supermarket checkout line on the day before Christmas Eve? Right: No one! During this time, it is better to put your feet up stress-free or start preparing the festive punch – but please, do not fall into haste and panic.
Food and drinks for the holidays can easily be bought several weeks before the celebration and stored at home. Non-perishable food can also be bought in advance or even frozen. What you have at home does not need to be bought shortly before closing time – thus, one stress factor is eliminated.
For all those who are unsure: make a note these days of food items that you can buy now and which ones need to be ordered. Anyone who orders their meat now can simply pick it up shortly before Christmas and does not need to stand at the deli counter forever. Perhaps also prepare a menu in case unexpected guests arrive. This memory aid is a true treasure. Those who prefer to eat out for a day and would rather be pampered in a restaurant can also gladly make reservations already. Inns and restaurants are happy to accept pre-orders these days – first come, first served.
Setting up gift lists
This year there will be numerous gifts again, and this year, too, one or the other will rack their brains about what they might give this time. To make the agony of choice less difficult, one should make lists and notes beforehand. List what needs to be bought, how much it may cost, and where you can best organize the gifts. This helps enormously with the gift search and limits financial possibilities – this way, you have considered all your loved ones in advance and can stay within a certain framework.
Buying accessories
Also think about suitable gift wrap and packing paper or gift tags during your next shopping trip. In many cases, the remaining paper rolls from the previous year are not enough, and trouble is pre-programmed – better to have one roll too many in the house than one too few. You can always keep them; the next Christmas is sure to come.
Checking Christmas decorations
On this occasion, you can also check your Christmas decorations: are all the little lights on the string for the tree still shining, are all the glass baubles still intact, is a candle missing from the Advent wreath, and do I still need to get tinsel? Checking the simplest decorations now saves trouble on Christmas Eve when the tree is to be set up and various parts are broken or no longer working. Also check the tree stand – a Christmas tree needs fresh water, which should not leak out anywhere.
Christmas mail
Shortly before Christmas, it makes sense to send off all postcards or other Christmas greetings – keep them ready in the hallway so that they arrive on time. Small surprises for the mail carrier, the garbage collectors, or the newspaper delivery person can also be prepared – these lovely people should also always be considered.
The countdown is on
Check early on whether the table decorations are complete, whether enough dishes and seating for guests are organized, and check the food for the Christmas season once again. If possible, cook a little of the festive menu in advance on Christmas Eve. Many dishes taste particularly good when frozen or well-marinated.
Shortly before the celebration, all things are thus done, and perhaps the housewife can also relax for once and put her feet up, perhaps let the efforts for the family fall away during a wellness bath, and gather strength once more for the upcoming Christmas celebration. With these plans and resolutions, the coming celebration can only be a clear success and pass us by completely stress-free this year.
