The party room should of course be nicely spooky, so darken the windows with black cloths. For the light, you can create a great atmosphere with an orange light bulb. If the children are over 9 years old, you can also use a blacklight lamp. This makes white and neon colors glow brightly (paint the children with neon face paint beforehand!).
You can distribute ghost faces everywhere in the room; these are easy to make: To keep the balloon lying nicely, fill 5-10 tablespoons of sand into a balloon with a funnel. Inflate the balloon and knot it (the knot at the top should look like a tuft of hair). With thick felt-tip pens, the children can paint spooky ghost faces; if you like, you can also glue on hair with raffia threads.
Of course, spiders and spider webs must not be missing. The walls are covered with crepe paper strips or cloths in different shades of blue. This way, you only see the sea all around. Occasionally, colorful paper fish and starfish are hung in it, or you let them dangle from the ceiling. On large sheets of paper, islands can now be painted using watercolors – but you can also organize this as a game with the little guests.
The turned-over dining table serves as a ship: the table legs are connected by cords. A broomstick is tied very tightly to one table leg – this is of course the sail mast. Pirate flags must flutter here. Either you paint them yourself or the children will do it for you. If the 'pirate ship' is too small for all the pirates, a 2nd one can set sail.
