For a children's carnival party (which also works for a birthday party, of course), you can choose a theme, such as Wild Animals. Here are a few tips and ideas for organizing such a carnival party:

The table is decorated with self-made palm trees made of construction paper, with small and large crafted animal heads distributed in between.
Funny, colorful cocktail sticks (ideally palm trees) or paper umbrellas are placed in the drinks and sauces. Furthermore, you can cut palm leaves out of construction paper and glue them onto wooden sticks.

The party room is decorated with self-painted pictures. Use large white paper and paint matching pictures: sea, desert, palm trees, jungle, etc. Fix the pictures to the walls with adhesive tape. Of course, colorful lanterns (there are also lanterns in animal shapes), streamers, and confetti should not be missing.
Food & Drink at the carnival party
When it comes to food, choose dishes that fit the theme or can be decorated accordingly. It's fun, for example, to decorate meatballs with slivered almonds as claws, so they become 'lion paws' for the children. And for dessert, there are eclairs or 'leopard pancakes' (color the pancake batter brown with a little cocoa, put bananas in the pan first, then pour the batter over them!).
This way, the little "wild animals" will surely be amazed and remember this party for a long time.
