Curd/Quark

To alleviate a sore throat, you can try a curd/quark compress.

Cold curd/quark compress for sore throats

What you’ll need:

  • Cotton or linen cloth (a bed sheet works very well)
  • cold curd
  • scarf

Instructions:

First, dampen the sheet slightly and then spread the cold quark thickly onto it. Wrap the sheet around the patient's neck with the curd side facing inward, and finally wrap a scarf around the sheet. Now let it take effect, which takes about 2-3 hours; the curd must then be completely dry and crumbly.

Warm curd compress for dry cough

What is needed

  • Quark
  • Pot
  • Water
  • Cotton or linen cloth

For dry coughs, bronchitis, or chronic joint complaints, warm curd compresses are also said to be useful. For this, warm the curd in a water bath to body temperature, spread it on a compress, and use it as a chest wrap, then secure it well.

Extra tip: so that the curd compress does not lose its warming function too quickly, simply place a warm cherry stone pillow or a hot water bottle on top.

Where curd/quark can alleviate pain

Curd has the property of drawing inflammatory substances out of the body, and the quark also provides a pleasant cooling effect. Therefore, the quark compress can also be used for the following types of pain:

  • Joint inflammation
  • Sprains
  • Fever
  • Sore throat
  • Tendonitis
  • Headache
  • Bruises
  • Contusions
  • Insect bites
  • Milk stasis or
  • Sunburn

Applying it apparently stimulates blood circulation, transports toxic substances out of the organism faster, stimulates metabolism and sweat production, and relaxes the muscles.

Caution: If the pain does not improve, please consult a doctor!
