A monetary gift for Christmas is often requested, e.g., when teenagers want to buy a new mobile phone, or the daughter would like to treat herself to a shopping afternoon. Not everyone wants to just put the banknotes in an envelope, so every year I am on the lookout for pretty packaging ideas that are not too elaborate and still look great. This year I decided on a Christmas tree card, because I think it looks original, is quick to make, and can be provided with personal notes.
Cash gift for Christmas: Christmas tree card
What you’ll need:
- green construction paper in any size, e.g., in A4
- 3 banknotes
- Stanley knife
- Pencil
- ruler or even better set square
- Christmas stickers
Instructions:
I took a piece of green construction paper in A4 size and simply folded it once in the middle crosswise to make a card.
Then the 3 banknotes are folded: Fold the banknote lengthwise (halve it), and fold the sides on the left and right inwards. Fold the top part down again so that the banknote becomes narrower.
Now use a pencil to draw a Christmas tree on the card; both sides should be isosceles. Now use a utility knife to cut slits (do not cut the entire length) the width of the banknotes. Thread the banknotes through the slits.
Now decorate the card as you like: Paint it or add Christmas stickers and write a personal dedication.
I think this card looks great and it was really not hard to make and, above all, it does not require elaborate purchases for the accessories. Now I am curious to see what the recipient says about it.
