My daughter wants to make Fluffy Slime. I first had to ask exactly what she meant by that. It seems to be all the rage with kids right now and is being made in YouTube videos everywhere. So, I did some research on the internet myself. I decided on a recipe with shaving cream, craft glue, and contact lens solution. I gathered the ingredients quite quickly; the only thing I ordered on Amazon was the craft glue, as I wanted the exact one from the recipe. Then we invited a few friends over, and the mixing and messing around began:
Recipe for making Fluffy Slime with shaving foam yourself
Ingredients for Fluffy Slime:
- Craft glue, solvent-free (We used Giotto liquid glue 1 kg)
- Contact lens solution for soft lenses (We used Eyelike multi-purpose solution)
- Food coloring (We used Wilton gel color)
- Shaving cream (We used Gilette Classic)
- Bowl
Instructions:
There are deliberately no exact measurements for this recipe.
First, fill a large bowl with shaving cream. We filled the bowl you see next to this halfway. Add the desired gel color. Careful, with the Wilton gel colors, a really tiny portion is enough because the colors are very intense. But you can, of course, also use regular food coloring. We chose yellow. Mix everything well and color it. Now add about 60 ml of craft glue, which is again mixed well with the other ingredients. Finally, add the contact lens solution to the mixture. Add a few splashes at a time, not too much, because the more contact lens solution you add, the firmer the Fluffy Slime becomes.
Let the slime rest for a few minutes after mixing so the ingredients can bond even better. To keep your hands from getting sticky, apply a little contact lens solution at the beginning.
Store the slime in an airtight container and don't leave it on clothing or furniture for too long, as it can stain. For us, the slime had already lost a lot of volume by the next day. However, my daughter still played with it the next day. The children really enjoyed mixing it all together and also the 'kneading' part. My daughter (and her friends) were very happy with this craft project. (But don't ask what the bathroom looked like ;-)). But what wouldn't you do to make children's eyes light up.
Extra tip:The slime comes off clothing easily if you wash it immediately. I put my daughter's things in the washing machine that same evening after playing, and nothing stained or stayed stuck! Of course, I recommend not wearing nice clothes for this, better safe than sorry. I also had an old tablecloth under the crafting area. With so many children, we just did it in the bathroom (it's practical if the kids want to wash their hands right away).
