Lawn care is a must if you want to have an inviting garden. To ensure this succeeds without any problems, read the following helpful tips on lawn care.

11 tips for a well-maintained lawn

1. Fertilize twice a year

The plants of every lawn need an adequate supply of nutrients. To ensure this, use a special lawn fertilizer twice a year.

2. Water as needed

Water your lawn in moderation. Protect it from drying out, but do not drown it. Watering once a week, or twice a week in hot temperatures, is sufficient.

3. Mow regularly or have it mowed by a gardening company

It is important for a beautiful, dense lawn that you mow it regularly. Especially in summer, a short length of three to four centimeters is optimal. Cutting is necessary two to three times a week. You have the option of taking on this task yourselfor having it mowed by a gardening company.

4. Scarify with suitable equipment

Scarify your lawn during its growth phase. This means you remove excess or dead plant remains. You can obtain special equipment in electric, gasoline, or manual versions.

5. Lime if the pH value is too low

The ideal pH value for a well-growing lawn is between 5.3 and 7.0. If it is too low, it helps to lime it towards the end of winter.

6. Reseed if necessary

If holes appear in your lawn, repair them by reseeding the affected areas in the spring.

7. Repair the lawn

8. Maintenance of the lawnmower

To ensure your lawnmower lasts a long time, it needs proper maintenance. Clean the blades regularly and have them sharpened if necessary.

9. Weed control

Regular mowing helps against weeds. Daisies and dandelions can only be removed by hand.10. Combat moss

The formation of moss in the lawn is a natural phenomenon. By fertilizing and scarifying, you strengthen the competitiveness of the grasses and displace it.
