In doing so, they use numerous tools such as digital multimeters. With these devices, they measure, for example, voltage (volts), current (amperes), and resistance (ohms) in the electrical circuit.
In this way, health and safety engineers bridge the gap between engineering, research and development, and health and safety. They also work "on-site" with responsible employees in the workplace and advise them regarding possible improvements. As engineers, depending on their background and training, they are used almost everywhere. They work proactively rather than reactively. This means they work to anticipate and foresee potential problems with existing technologies. They also install, maintain, replace, and update necessary safety devices.
