In the Wachau, there is always something going on during the apricot harvest:
During the apricot harvest, the Apricot Fair takes place in Spitz, and has been held since 1950.
At the end of July, the church square in Spitz is transformed into a special festival area; this year, the Apricot Fair will take place over 4 days.

What is there at the Spitz Apricot Fair
At various stalls, there are specialties featuring the Wachau apricot: apricot schnapps, apricot liqueur, apricot pancakes, apricot cake, and – especially popular – Wachau apricot dumplings from the famous apricot dumpling machine.
The Wachau wines of the various quality levels "Steinfeder", "Federspiel", and "Smaragd" each have their own wine stand; the village fountain is specially drained for the festival, and sparkling wine and Wachau wines are served here.
In the evening there is dance music, during the day there are folklore performances and a colorful festival program.
Short, but all the more beautiful, is the reign of King Marillus and Princess Aprikosia.
On Sunday, there is a parade through the town with the majesties, and the "Golden Apricot" award is presented to personalities and guests of honor.
