Cleaning windows is a tedious chore where a lot can go wrong. In the worst case, new streaks and smears even adorn the panes after cleaning. With these 5 tips for clean windows, the work may still not be fun, but the result will be something to be proud of!

1. Do not clean in direct sunlight

Bright sunshine mercilessly exposes every tiny speck of dirt on the window pane. Since this sight bothers many people, housewives energetically grab buckets and cloths on such days and begin thoroughly cleaning the windows. However, this is not necessarily recommended, as the cleaning water evaporates faster in direct sunlight, thus promoting the formation of unsightly streaks and smears.

2. Use microfiber cloths instead of newspapers

A common tip for clean windows is to rub the wet panes dry with newspaper. However, this is not entirely true, as the printer's ink on the newspaper can lead to new stains.Microfiber cloths are much better suited for polishing windows.

Important: The cloths used should not be washed in the machine, as they tend to leave lint on the glass.

3. Use a window vacuum

Window vacuums are useful helpers in the fight against dirty windows. They usually consist of a suction device with which the cleaning agent can be pulled off the window, and a spray bottle with an integrated sponge. The cleaning agent is filled into the bottle and can thus be easily applied to the window and distributed with the sponge attachment.Window vacuums reduce the time required for window cleaning by a multiple and usually achieve excellent results.

4. Use vinegar against limescale stains

When using vinegar, an unpleasant smell unfortunately arises at first – but the effectiveness of the agent is undisputed. A few splashes of vinegar in lukewarm water help to dissolve limescale residues on the windows. Some housewives swear by using a mixture of water, vinegar, and a few drops of dish soap for cleaning to achieve a flawless result.

5. Secret tip: Black tea

Wait and drink tea – then the windows will become clean again all by themselves? No, it's not that simple, but this tip actually has something to do with tea. If streaks and smears are still visible after cleaning despite all efforts, it can help to brew a cup of black tea. This must first be allowed to cool down. The windows are then carefully rubbed down with the cooled drink and polished with a dry cloth. In this way, the unloved streaks and smears disappear as if by magic.
