It is often hard to part with items of clothing; too many memories are attached to them, or you believe that you will wear the item again after all. To defeat the chaos in the wardrobe, you have to be tough – here is a guide on the criteria you can use to decide if you really want to create order.
The best tips for decluttering your wardrobe
Sell the clothes on eBay, or donate them if
- you haven't worn the garment for a year
- the item is no longer fashionable anyway (you know it!)
- you were never sure about the color or the cut
- the clothes no longer fit or are already uncomfortable
Throw the garment away if
- it is broken
- a part of it is missing
You should keep the garment if
- the piece still fits – and right now, not after a diet!
- it is in perfect condition
- you have worn it at least once in the last year
- you couldn't bear to give up this great keepsake
I hope these tips help a little with sorting out – and please be assured: I know how hard it is! It is best to reward yourself with a shopping day after sorting out, then the sorted-out items will surely be forgotten soon.
