Order online in Austria

The reputation of many stock traders has been quite tarnished since the global financial and economic crisis, yet the profession of a stock trader remains tempting. This may be because today's stock traders are no longer at home on the stock exchange floor and no longer have to shout their orders into the phone, as today's stock trader sits comfortably in front of their PC and conducts their business online. It is still the prospect of big money, but also the thrill, that still defines this profession.

Training at a bank

Most stock traders begin their careers as apprentices at a bank. However, to be admitted to stock trading, applicants working in the securities department must complete a one-week course at the stock exchange and subsequently pass an examination. The future stock trader must be able to prove that they are familiar with stock exchange law and know how prices are formed on the stock exchanges. Futures trading is also part of the course, as is the trading system on the Austrian stock exchanges. However, the real subtleties that define this profession cannot be learned; the "learning by doing" principle still applies here.

It is not easy

online-stock-traderAnyone who may have already traded CFDs in their spare time via CMC Markets knows what speculative trading looks like and what must be taken into account. However, anyone who wants to work full-time as a stock trader must have a wide range of knowledge, because this profession requires more than just reading prices correctly. Many brokers initially work as employees for the first few years of their careers and only become self-employed later. Those who work as employees at a bank earn a decent salary and no longer have to worry about regular payment. Acting as an independent online broker also requires a bit of courage, because ultimately, you are trading on your own account and at your own risk.

Things don't always go smoothly

When a stock trader's business is going well, the salary can sometimes reach a five-figure range, but of course, things don't always go as planned. Anyone who wants to be successful as a stock trader must work with foresight, must not let themselves get nervous if a price does not move in the right direction, and must inform themselves not only about the stocks but also about the respective companies. Only those who are always up to date can ultimately earn good money.
